I specialize in major life transitions such as adjusting to being a new middle school/high school/college student, becoming a new mother, undergoing a separation/divorce, having a growing family, changes of menopause, and career/passion changes. I encourage hope and inner strength in all of my clients. In sessions, I utilize Person Centered, Cognitive Behavioral, and Solution Focused Therapy. It’s my view that all individuals have good qualities, the capacity to do well, and have the desire to make changes in their lives. In addition, I believe that negative thinking has a strong effect on people’s behaviors and that if they can shift their thinking in a positive manner, they will be motivated and drawn to more pleasant outcomes.
My Bachelor’s Degree is in Psychology from Spelman College and my Master’s degree is in Counseling Psychology from Temple University. Also, my doctoral degree is in Counselor Education and Supervision from Argosy University, Atlanta. In addition, I am a Certified Professional Counselor Supervisor (CPCS), and have been certified since 2013.
My experience includes over 12 years of counseling with adolescents and adults. I have provided individual counseling, group counseling, and crisis intervention to adolescents and adults in community mental health, residential, crisis center, and private practice settings.
