She has worked with child, adolescent, and adult populations along a spectrum of concerns such as depression, anxiety, trauma, sexual abuse, eating disorders, ADHD and ODD.

Approach:
Carol’s approach to therapy is eclectic, in that she uses a variety of theoretical approaches to meet the needs of each client. Some of the central theories applied are Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Psychodynamic Therapy and Family Systems Therapy. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy is goal orientated and based on the idea that our thoughts influence our feelings and behaviors. Through the use of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, clients’ beliefs are gently challenged in order to promote positive change in thoughts, actions and feelings. Techniques such as journaling, positive self affirmations, progressive muscle relaxation, guided imagery, deep breathing exercises and meditation are used for emotional regulation. Psychodynamic Therapy is an insight-orientated therapy that focuses on the premise that behavior and relationships are influenced by conscious and unconscious thoughts. Many of the experiences from the past are manifested in present behaviors, which influence personal satisfaction. The goal in Psychodynamic Therapy is to help clients achieve self-awareness and an understanding of how parts of their past experiences affect their present behavior. Family Systems Therapy focuses on emotional relationships and communication patterns between couples and family members. The goal is for family members to understand and accept their individual responsibility in the family unit in order to promote positive change. Carol’s mission is to help individuals achieve a healthy balance in life, through enhancing self-awareness, personal growth, empowerment, spirituality, and emotional healing.
